The battles for parent and toddler parking
I am a husband and
father of two, family life is full of changes and challenges, and
something that is often a challenge is finding a parent and toddler
space. It isn't easy trying to juggle a 3 year old and a four month
old from an ordinary space because some inconsiderate soul and taken
a space they should not be using, and a space you desperatly could do
with.
Parent and toddler
parking spaces are designed, and are there for, 'parents and
children'.
Some of the public are
aware of this and are curtious about it.
However the vast
majority of the public think seem to think it is ok to abuse them.
Take for example people
with diasbility parking badges.
There is an ample
amount of these spaces. They are near entrances, or not very far from
them. This is ok I agree they should be there and where they are, but
why do even these people with badges think it is ok to park in a
parent and toddler space. It is not designed for them and they should
not be able to use them. Just because they have a badge it does not
entitle them to that space. There aren't near enough or no parent and
child spaces in most carparks in the first place compared to
disabled.
Some people do park in
disabled spaces and I wonder why they risk it. But a majority of
people would not dare, it is just not right, people make a fuss about
it, people get fined for it, so why do people not have the same views
about P & T spaces?
Other classics are
people who park in the spaces with a child seat..... but with no
child!!!
Surely these people
would feel frustrated if someone had pulled into a space with no
child themselves while they are waiting for a space, so why do they
do it too.
People parking in P &
T spaces with no child and no care. They know what they are doing,
and they always seem to stare around at other people to see who is
judging them. Again, not desinged for these people. It is a selfish
act and there is always a family waiting for that space.
People with older
children. There are rules to these P & T spaces, they usally say
for parents with children under 6 years. Please think of other before
parking in this space.
So, do all these people give a
damn? No! Do they think of others? No! Do they look around to see who
is judging them? Hell yeah they do!
I find this very
frustrating to see this happen constantly, and although there are
signs that mention camera's security and fines, people still go
ahead. There does not seem to be any reprocussions. People should be
named and shamed and maybe even have a point on there license.
Does anyone else feel
the same, or are you not bothered by it.
Are you a person that
does these things? Let's discuss it.
